In an interview with police, the injured man Seth says "I'm the kind of guy who thinks Kathryn Bigelow should direct the next Star Wars-and I've said that to other men." When the man accused is interrogated, that's when the Michael Schur-created Brooklyn Nine-Nine flexes its comedic muscle in the most nuanced way. When the incident was reported, the woman revealed that she had been sexually assaulted. In "He Said, She Said," a case comes into the precinct involving a man with a penile fracture at the hand of a female coworker who clocked him in the nether regions. The sitcom attempted (and succeeded) at the near-impossible: a comedic, yet thoughtful, episode tackling the #MeToo movement. And Thursday night's episode was especially poignant. ![]() In the closing moments of this week's episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Detective Rosa Diaz tells her colleague Amy Santiago, "Two steps forward, one step back is still one step forward." The same could be said about the show itself, which was canceled by Fox and thankfully revived by NBC for a renewed seventh season, where it's absolutely thriving. ![]()
